Now Hiring: Slop Correction Engineers

I like AI. Or, I should say I like AI when used appropriately. I do not think AI is as big a revolution as many people seem to think. Companies who have downsized (read: fired) employees in favor of AI likely made a mistake or needed to remove those employees anyway.

AI is a great tool for a narrow set of use cases, but the amount of money that has been funneled into companies building in the AI space means that there is a misalignment that will continue to push a narrative of revolutionary change. In reality, we are simply building new technology that creates new problems. We are "eliminating" jobs so that we can replace them with jobs designed to fix AI's flaws.

This might get better, but it also might not. We should champion AI's use for the things it is good at and not force use cases that don't make sense (whispers in robots.txt: agents).

Anyway, this is a good article about this exact topic.
